Dr. Scott Austin


Dr. Scott Austin has a B.S. in physics from Michigan State University (1987) and a PhD. in astrophysics from Arizona State University (1995).  He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Central Arkansas.
His research is in the area of astronomy and astrophysics doing observational and computational work primarily on variable stars.
As director of astronomical facilities at UCA Scott does public outreach with the UCA Observatory and the 60-seat UCA Planetarium.  He runs monthly public viewing nights with the observatory.  With the planetarium he produces and gives shows monthly for the general public and by request for school groups.

Dr. Austin will speak on the evidence for the age of Earth and the age of the Universe.
